No two changes play out the same way. I've learned that over almost 30 years working across 60 organisations and 18 countries, from frontline teams to boards. I don't bring answers in with me. I listen first, without an agenda, so I can see what's actually happening before recommending what to do about it.

But it didn't start that way.

My first job in the field was with a global consultancy in Sydney. The work was competent and well-resourced. It was also entirely formulaic - the same approach applied regardless of the organisation, the culture, or its capacity to absorb change. I grew increasingly uneasy with that. The question the formula answered was how to implement change. The question I kept coming back to was whether the conditions inside the organisation could actually support it.

A few years later, my work in an investment bank that practiced a culture-driven approach to change gave me the language for what I had been sensing. Change is not a technical problem to be solved with the right methodology. It is a human and systemic one, and it requires a fundamentally different kind of practice.

If any of this resonates, I would love to have a conversation.
